L’Hirondelle, the oldest country club in the Baltimore area, The club was established in 1872 and was originally established as the L’Hirondelle Boat Club. The club moved to Ruxton before the turn of the century. Today, L’Hirondelle serves as an outstanding racquet facility, while remaining true to its original mission of “a club formed by friends for the purpose of creating a place in which they and their families can gather for social and athletic activities in a gracious and intimate atmosphere” The amenities include reception space, a dining room, tennis courts, and a bowling alley

The public area of Robert E. Lee Park stretches from Roland Park to Lutherville, covering a large area in and around Ruxton. This park provides a large, densely wooded area with hiking and bike trails, a stream along with the beautiful Lake Roland

Along with all the natural beauty of the area, the children of Ruxton are served well served by Riderwood Elementary School, Dumbarton Middle School, and Towson High School, and all of the Blue Ribbon Schools in the Baltimore County Public Schools system. However, a large majority of Ruxton students attend area private schools such as Gilman School, The Boys' Latin School of Maryland, and Bryn Mawr School.
